Aisling Prendergast

Psychologist
Aisling’s main passion for accompanying people on their decision to explore their inner thoughts, emotions, and workings of their psyche in the therapy space is a humbling experience and a great honour. Many different situations and events can lead somebody to therapy. This may have been a struggle or dilemma that has built up over time or an incident that has recently occurred; Aisling sees her primary role as being a witness to your narrative and an ally in navigating what steps are taken next; steps that are grounded in evidence-based therapeutic approaches such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Mentalization Based Therapy and Schema Focused Therapy.

Aisling has trained extensively to work with individuals and organizations who have experienced traumatic events that have severely impacted their lives and productivity.

Aisling was born and raised in Ireland, where she began her studies and love affair with psychology before moving to the UK. Her extensive background in the UK’s NHS and private sector includes working with adults and adolescents experiencing psychological presentations, including addictions, personality disorders, eating disorders, traumatic responses and general mental health concerns. Since moving to the Middle East over 6 years ago, Dr Aisling has enjoyed working in a mental and well-being clinic, focusing her training and knowledge on perinatal and infant mental health. She also specializes in bereavement, loss and traumatic responses.

Aisling is trained to work with individuals who have experienced traumatic events and loss across their lifespan and feels very privileged to walk alongside anyone experiencing the darkest points in life. Aisling’s great passion is also women’s mental health, particularly pre and post-natal mental health, IVF and infertility struggles, PCOS and peri-menopausal symptoms. Aisling is also experienced in supporting families through a traumatic birth and baby loss.

Outside of clinical practice, Aisling can be found chasing her two adorable and mischievous little boys, spending time with friends and family, deep diving into psychology books and searching for new breakfast destinations!
