Dr. Hamdan is a Consultant in Fetal and Pediatric Cardiology, currently working as a part-time Consultant at Genesis Perinatal Center.
Dr. Hamdan is the Co-founder and Director of KidsHeart Medical Center in Dubai and its branches in Al Ain and Abu Dhabi. KidsHeart is the leading provider of fetal and pediatric cardiology services in the UAE. It has 3 outpatient centers, and its physicians cover 10 hospitals across the UAE. It’s affiliated with New York Presbyterian Hospital/ Columbia University Medical Center, USA.
Dr. Hamdan is currently an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, and an Adjunct Professor of Pediatrics, at the College of Medicine, UAE University, Al Ain, UAE. He also serves as an adjunct staff at Mohammed Bin Rashid University, Dubai, UAE.
Before establishing KidsHeart in Sept. 2013, Dr. Hamdan was a Consultant and Head of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology, the Director of Non-invasive Cardiology, and the Vice-Chairman of the Department of Pediatrics at Tawam Hospital in Al Ain, UAE. He has also worked in Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and the USA.
Dr. Hamdan obtained his medical degree from Jordan University of Science and Technology College of Medicine in 1993. He obtained his American Board of Pediatrics in 1998 from the University of Iowa, and the American Sub-board of Pediatric Cardiology in 2002 from Yale University School of Medicine.
Dr. Hamdan has numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals in the field of fetal and pediatric heart diseases, including: The New England Journal of Medicine, Journal of American College of Cardiology, Journal of Perinatology, Journal of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Pediatric Cardiology, and Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease. Dr. Hamdan is currently a reviewer for ‘Heart’, and ‘Cardiology in The Young’ journals. He is a regular invited speaker for several national and international conferences, and has received several awards from the Government of Jordan, American College of Cardiology, and Arab Health Exhibition, Dubai. He’s currently the Chairman of Scientific Committee for Arab Health Pediatric Conference, and the International Pediatric Conference of KidsHeart/ Columbia University Medical Center.
In the field of fetal cardiology, Dr. Haman established the first registry of fetal cardiac anomalies in the UAE, the results of which were published in the Journal of Perinatal Medicine. He’s a regional expert in fetal echocardiographic diagnosis of infantile Pompe disease, and has published his work in the Journal of Inherited Metabolic Disease, and BMC Neurology.
