
Dr Sophie Momen is a consultant dermatologist with expertise in general and specialist dermatology. She is a member of the British Association of Dermatologists and the Royal College of Physicians. She provides care across a wide range of skin conditions, with a focus on sun sensitivity and disorders that worsen with ultraviolet light exposure.
Dr Sophie graduated with first-class honours from the University of Nottingham in 2010. She completed her dermatology training at St John’s Institute of Dermatology and King’s College Hospital, London.
She went on to complete a Wellcome Trust-funded PhD at the University of Cambridge, where she used stem cell-based models and multi-omic technologies to study neurodegeneration in xeroderma pigmentosum. She also gained expertise in the clinical application of whole genome sequencing in skin cancers.
Dr Sophie has published her research in leading journals, including Science and Nature Cancer. She received the Royal Society of Medicine Hugh Wallace Essay Prize for her contributions to dermatology research.
