Dr Hossam Al-Hilou is an award holding fully UK-trained Consultant Gastroenterologist and internal physician, with dual accreditation in Gastroenterology and Internal Medicine. He holds a Certificate of Completion of Training from the London deanery (CCT) and has over 20 years of clinical experience in the UK and the UAE.

Dr Al-Hilou specialises in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver conditions. His areas of expertise include:

Dr Al-Hilou is a fully UK JAG certified endoscopist and endoscopy trainer. He also holds an endoscopist of excellence award from the SRC institute. He performs comprehensive procedures including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy (with polypectomy), video capsule endoscopy, balloon dilatation, botox injection, and emergency GI bleeding management.

Dr Al-Hilou completed all his stages of medical training, both undergraduate and postgraduate in the UK. Dr Al-Hilou graduated with merit from the University of Leicester in 2002, earned his MRCP (UK) in 2006, MRCP in Gastroenterology in 2009, and was awarded Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in 2020.

He completed specialist training in gastroenterology at 3 leading tertiary UK centres of excellence:

• Intestinal Transplant Unit – Addenbrooke’s Hospital, Cambridge
• Liver Transplant Unit – Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham
• Inflammatory Bowel Disease Unit – Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London

Before relocating to Dubai, Dr Al-Hilou worked for five years as a Consultant Gastroenterologist at Queen Mary’s and Darent Valley Hospitals in London. Over the past seven years, he has served as a consultant at one of Dubai’s largest private hospitals and holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor at Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU).

Dr Al-Hilou is an enthusiastic researcher and educator. He has published extensively in international journals across hepatology, IBD, dyspepsia, and nutrition. He has taught at King’s College London, served as an MRCP examiner, and is a JAG-certified endoscopy trainer.
